Michael Husner

Michael Husner (1982) grew up in a music-loving family in the upper Fricktal region (AG, Switzerland) and was musically encouraged from a young age. At the age of 13, he joined the Brass Band Fricktal under the direction of Andreas Spörri. Four years later, he took over the position of solo euphonium which he held for 16 years.

As a teenager, Michael Husner was awarded several prizes at various national soloist competitions. He was also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland (NJBB). After completing basic training and passing the entrance examination, he was called to serve in the Swiss Military Music and subsequently played in the Swiss Army Concert Band (Major Christoph Walter), the Swiss Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra (Major Philipp Wagner/Jan Cober), and the Swiss Army Brass Band (Andreas Spörri).

Over the years, Michael Husner has played as a guest musician in numerous Swiss wind orchestras and brass bands of all levels. In addition he was also engaged with a cofounded brass quartet and an alphorn group, as well as leading sections for various ensembles and becoming the musical director of the legendary Schlossbärghüüler from Laufenburg/Kaisten. Solo engagements, accompanied by brass bands, wind orchestras or in duets with organ or marimba round off his musical oeuvre.

Michael Husner currently plays solo euphonium with Universal Brass Band Wil (Elite Division, conducted by Gian Stecher) and the Musica da Domat (2nd Division Brass Band, conducted by Gian Stecher). In addition, he plays for Graubünden Brass (Elite Division, conducted by Gian Stecher) and is a member of the Euphonium Quartet Zadnitsa.

Furthermore, Michael Husner acts as a brand ambassador in Switzerland for Adams Musical Instruments and plays a custom-configured Adams E1 Euphonium.
